Uploading Equipment Data

There are two ways to post information about equipment you have in excess or in shortage: Uploading a tab-delimited text file, and adding individual postings at the My Postings screens. Generally speaking, you should use the Upload function if you are posting more than one line item; if you only want to add, edit or delete a single line item from your postings, it is better to do so manually at the Postings [My Excess] or Postings [My Shortage] screen.

This section describes how to upload a text file using the Upload function. For information on adding, editing or deleting a single line item, see the following:

When uploading new part data, you can replace (or "refresh") the existing postings, or you can add more items to your existing postings.

To reach the Upload page, click the Upload link on the PartBridge.com menu.

  1. Determine whether your new file will replace the existing file or add to it. Notice that the two blue buttons on the Upload page reflect this choice:
  2. Click the Browse button on the Upload page to open the Choose File box.
  3. Navigate to the correct folder on your local drive and select the appropriate file in the Choose File box.
  4. After selecting the file to upload, you have two choices:
    • If you want to replace the previous file with this new file, click the Replace All Postings button, then click OK in the "Are you sure...?" box.
    • Click the Add to Postings button if you want to keep the existing list and add more items to it.

After the file upload is complete, the Message Center updates the number of postings.

If the posting was unsuccessful, you will see a detailed message explaining what was wrong with the file and how to fix it.

To view all current postings, click the Postings statement in the Message Center or navigate to the Postings screens using the Buy menu and/or Sell menu.
